Sorry friends! I have really let my blog slip into "never, never land"! I have not been very disciplined at keeping up to date this winter but I'm going to try to get you all caught up a bit! I will not be going to the Mount Pleasant Old Thresher's Reunion this year. Staying away from home that many days has gotten really expensive and just wears this old lady out! I will be doing some local shows this fall/winter and also the big show at The Varied Industries Building at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines the week-end before Thanksgiving. If you see anything on my blog that you would like to inquire about, please feel free to catch me on facebook or leave me a message here.
It has been a very hot, dry summer and I am really looking forward to fall. It's my favorite time of the year! Hope everyone is having a wonderful summer and I hope you enjoy my new projects! I'll be adding more as I get them finished! I'll leave you with these thoughts:
Look back and thank God. Look forward and trust God. Look around and serve God. Look within and find God! God closes doors no man can open and God opens doors no man can close.

Fence Post to Fence Post
God closes doors no man can open and God opens doors no man can close.

Snow, Snow, Go Away!
Everyone knows I LOVE snowmen! I love to paint them, that is! The urge to make one left me about 30 years ago! Here in town we had about 20" of snow with drifts that were 4-5 Ft tall. The whole town was without power from 1 pm Tuesday until about 10 am Wednesday. We have alternative heat in my house but most people didn't. My husband and I played cards by candlelight and then hunkered down in our recliners all snuggled up in our blankies and talked about what life must have been like before electricity. I enjoyed it. Maybe we should have our power shut down once in a while so people will listen to each other instead of the television or computer? Just sayin'!
I work at a newspaper office, a free trader publication, and our press day is Wednesday. I've been there for over 5 years and the one rule has always been "If you miss work on a Wednesday, it better be because you're dead". My supervisor, our receptionist and I are the only employees who live in town where the office is located. You guessed it! My supervisor and I were the only ones who were able to get to the office and it was hard work getting there! In the first two pics my wonderful hubbie is digging me a path to the road so I can catch a ride to the office! The bottom picture is what I found when I got there with one change.....there was no shoveled path and I had to climb over the snow to get in the door! You've heard of that fine line? I think I crossed it!! The good news is that another employee made it in around 3 that day and the three of us managed to get the paper to the press and I was back home by 8 pm.
We had some wonderful farmers come to town with their tractors to dig our streets out as well as helpful neighbors who helped people dig out their driveways. Living in a small town definitely has it's advantages! A big thank you for the help! I have had enough snow and am now ready for Spring! I'm lookin' for red winged black birds!

Glass Blocks
Painting on glass blocks is really big these days. This is one that I made my girls for Christmas this year. They are really cute when lit. Will be making some of these for this year's craft shows!

Winter Has Settled In
Winter has pretty much settled in here in the midwest. I have gotten through all of my fall and winter craft shows and the holidays and, once again, it is time to start thinking about starting the process all over again. I have been browsing pattern websites and looking through all of my patterns and craft books trying to find some "inspiration" to get me started! I'm also working on my craft show schedule for the upcoming year. I'll let you all know when I decide where I'm going to peddle my wares!
I have really neglected my blog but will try to work on that now that the rush is over! Keep checking it! I hope to have some pictures of new projects to post soon, once I get my creative juices unthawed!!

Old Thresher's Craft Show
Another great year at the Mt. Pleasant Craft Show! The first few days were rainy and stormy. Several Vendors lost awnings/canopies and inventory. We were really fortunate. Wednesday night we were expecting another storm so we packed everything up, AGAIN! Set up on Thursday and had a little rain but not too bad. Friday, Saturday and Sunday were awesome days. Beautiful weather and LOTS of people! I was so ready to be done, though. Five days is a long time to sit in a craft booth! My friend Marilyn went with me again this year and we had a great time catching up! She is a very talented lady! She paints all of the ceramics you will see in the pics.....our product really blends well! Thanks to everyone who stopped by! That's the best part! (Well, the money is pretty nice, too!)

Peppermint Tea
The clock is winding down......this may be my last project before I head for Mt. Pleasant Craft Show. I found this little tea pot at a garage sale this spring and didn't think I would have time to do anything with it but I got the urge to paint it while drinking my nightly cup of mint tea last night and this is what I came up with! The tag reads "Peppermint Tea". This is the neatest little pot. The metal "cover" is lined with a compressed cotton insulation and it slips over the ceramic tea pot to keep the tea hot. Never saw one before but it sure is a clever idea....probably a priceless antique and I just ruined it by painting on it!!!

Blocks, Blocks and More Blocks!
I've been crazy busy getting ready for the Mt. Pleasant craft show and haven't had a chance to update! I am finally getting to a place where I think I have enough to take...just a few odds and ends to finish up and maybe a simple project or two and I QUIT!! I always worry that I won't have enough inventory but I always do!
I am so fortunate to have a great support system. My husband cuts and sands my wood for me, usually with a smile.....depends on what's on TV!! My daughters, Megan and Nikki, sister Brenda and my Mom all came down Friday night and basecoated blocks for me. We had so much fun and they saved me so much time! I would never have gotten as many blocks done if they hadn't helped! Thank you family!! I love you all very much.
Here is a small sampling of the blocks that I have finished. I sure hope they sell! If not, you all know what you're getting for Christmas!!!
